School Board Members
Katleen Dethier
Born and raised in Belgium, Katleen moved to New York in August of 2003, the exact day of the blackout. Being raised catholic and having attended catholic schools, she became a fan of St. John The Baptist School when she toured it many years ago. Her daughter Elisabeth started St. John The Baptist in Pre-k 4 and she just graduated in 2021. Katleen holds a Bachelors Degree in Marketing and is the owner of Buttercrumbs Bakery in Corfu. Katleen has been on the School Board for many years and strongly believes in catholic education.
Everett Boone
Everett is a lifetime parishioner of St. John the Baptist, graduate of St. John’s School, and is an original member of the School Board. He has been a member and secretary of St. John’s Holy Name Society for over 40 years, Parish Council/Pastoral Council member since the 1980s, and ushers at the 4pm mass at St. John’s Church.

Karen Casillo
Karen is a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist parish and a 1992 alumni of St. John’s School. She is a former Treasurer of the HSA, and joined the School Board as Secretary in February 2022. Karen and her husband, Paul, currently have two daughters enrolled at St. John’s.
Anthony Cometto
Anthony is an alumnus of St. John’s class of 1966 and a parish member of St. John’s Church since 1964. He is a firm believer that a true catholic education is the best education. Many of the positive outcomes throughout his life are a result of his connection to his catholic faith and education.
Karen Casillo

Johanna Gross, CPA
Born and raised in Alden, NY, Johanna has always been an active member of the community – volunteering in the schools, being an aide for 5th grade Faith Formation, serving as past member of Annunciation Church’s audit committee, participating in many local events, and recently forming a local chapter of 4H. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from SUNY Geneseo and is a Certified Public Accountant. As a proud parent of two children at St. John the Baptist School, Johanna was excited to join the School Board in September 2021.

Dave is an alumni of St. John’s School, along with his six siblings and three daughters. He completed a 2-year college degree in business and spent 30 plus years in the sales industry. Dave became a member of the Board when his children attended the school and has been an active member since. Dave is dedicated to our parish and the mission of keeping St. John’s School a viable option for families in Alden and the surrounding communities.

Pat Mahaney
Pat is a father of five children, all of whom attended and graduated from St. John’s School. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the Marketing, Enrollment, & Alumni Relations Committee. In addition, Pat is the former Secretary, and is an original member of, the Policy and Planning Committee since the Board originated in October of 1993.
Rick Smith
Richard is a lifelong parishioner of St. John’s Church and has been a member of the School Board since its inception in October 1993. His wife, Rosemary, and children, Michelle and Michael, are all graduates of St. John’s School. Rick also currently serves as a Parish Trustee and is a member of the Finance and Parish Councils. He is a retired CPA and enjoys following the Bills and Sabres.
Pat Maheny
Pat is a father of five children, all of whom attended and graduated from St. John’s School. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the Marketing, Enrollment, & Alumni Relations Committee. Michael is a 1987 graduate of St. John’s School and a lifelong member of St. John’s Parish. His three children have also attended St. John’s: Alexander (Class of 2013), Benjamin (Class of 2017), and Landon (currently enrolled). Michael is a member of St. John’s Finance Committee, where he helps prepare and oversee the budget, offers general financial guidance, and coordinates information between the school principal and Parish Finance Committee. Michael has worked as Clerk-Treasurer for the Village of Lancaster since 2006.

Chuck is a retired Product and Testing Engineering Manager from Moog Inc., where he worked for 32 years. He has been married to Kathy since 1978, and they have three adult children, whom are all graduates of St John’s. Chuck and his wife have held all the positions of the HSA and original School Board and are currently the leaders for the Pre-Cana Program. In addition, Chuck is one of the two Parish Trustees, the Chairman of the Parish Finance Committee, a member of the School Board Finance Committee, a member of the Building and Grounds Committee, and is a Eucharistic Minister.
